Anthropology research on homeless people

8th Nov 2020

Referring to last week’s research I decide to investigate the anthropology of homeless people’s (rough sleeper) body gesture and the way they place their property. I think their  body gesture might affect passenger’s reaction to them.

This image was taking at nighttime around 8.15 in Oxford street, when most of the shops were shut and the street was cleared out. He curled up in the corner because it was cold, and he did not want to take much space on the pavement. He did not have a proper sleeping bag. His body gesture seems interesting to me because it is like what I might do on the sofa before going to bed. I think it might be interesting if this image was photo shopped with a different background such as placing him in a much better place such as a piece of luxury furniture.

I talked to this guy while he was playing accordion his music attracts my attention. Before I walked to him. There was a passenger playing the keyboard part of the accordion’s keyboard part with him. I think the shape of his accordion is really inspiriting. Some of the homeless people carries instruments with them to attract more attention. I might develop accordion’s shape into a piece of jewellery.
