The other art fair visit

I went to ‘the other art fair’ attempting to get some conceptual inspiration for the park project.  Simon Shepherd’s sculptures were really inspiring. He enlarges daily objects adds metal structures around the natural form. Making ironic comments on the human power and the nature species.

I think this sculpture is quiet interesting the steel motor is contrasting with the organic turtle shell. He is trying to point out that turtles are quite slow due to its nature characteristic. By adding a motor inside its shell the turtle is forced to speed up. Adding man made objects to natural forms seems an option for me because adding my own comments on something that  people have common sense about might clarify my idea.

Questionary about birds in London

I decide to use brunches that found in the park built up a bird skeleton. Stuff plastic wastes inside bird’s stomach. Pointing out the fact that plastic wastes remain in the natural environment are threaten species’ life. I start my research by looking at the bird types in London. Instead of picking radome type of birds which is not that symbolic. I decide to pick the most well known one because audiences would pay more attention to the common species.

With this in mind, I did a questionary with a few people. Trying to find out what do they think  about the most common birds in London and which type of birds’ outline seems more interesting among the others. Pigeons and mallard ducks are the most common answers for both question.  These answers help me focusing on two types of bird.

I will keep on researching into ducks and pigeons start testing out how to build up a structure using brunches and plastic wastes.
