Further research of tea project

9th Dec

I did more research about the tea culture around the world such as the chai tea in Indian Touareg tea in Morocco and breakfast tea in England. Personally I found the culture and the way people having tea is much more interesting than the tea itself. Further more the teapots represent the history and art in that region. Such as people serving tea in a red clay pot is because of ancient Indian people believe once the pot broken they will go back to the earth start another lifecycle till today this tea container is still popular there.

Further more some research relates to Chinese blue and white painting was done. This delicate pattern can’t be seen in modern tea bottles any more and the legend presented on the tea cup were gradually forgotten by the modern world. I am trying to figure out if there are approaches bring the old stuff into our life. Li Xiao Feng’s broken porcelain sculptures caught my attention. He threads porcelain pieces into cloth form give the traditional tea pots a second life.

3rd Dec wood finishing surface

I painted the second coat of our table to be honest I’m not pleased with the first coat because I forgotten to polish table’s surface after I assembling the boxes and the top. Consequently the table ends up with rough surface sander was used for polishing and I realized it almost took away the first coat of oil. However I have to make sure the table has a fine and smooth surface. Through out the polishing I find out the tabletops won’t fit properly two boxes couldn’t be open at the same time luckily the Blum hinges are adjustable. Screwdriver used to loose the screw that connects the table and hinges making sure eight unite fit nicely. If I have another chance I would definitely sanding the wood surface before I put any oil on top.
